We have recently overseen the complete external transformation of 35 hard-to-heat homes, giving them a new lease of life.
The homes in Gobowen and Weston Rhyn, have had new windows and doors, existing roof insulation replaced, new roof coverings and an insulated render system as part of their significant makeover.
The renovation work means the homes, which were built in the 1950’s, will be more efficient in retaining heat bringing energy costs for tenants down for years to come.
Steve Jones, Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing contract officer for the work, said:
“We are delighted with the transformation of these ‘’hard to heat’’ properties. Our tenants will feel the benefits of these works for many years to come.”
Anglian Building Products carried out the 24-week project and kept tenants informed of progress through the entire process. Tenants were even given the opportunity to choose the external doors they would like on their property.
External funding was secured through The Green Deal Home improvement Fund to support the work.
Angela Douglas, Asset Manager for Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing, said:
“Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing are committed to improving the SAP ratings for all our properties. These works demonstrate the thermal improvement that can be made in non-traditional housing stock.”
